Aquatics Coordinator

Status: Part-Time, Seasonal

Location: On-site

Pay: $20-24 depending on experience

Seasonal Start: January planning period, May After School Lessons and Early May-July Summer Lessons.

Estimated Hours: Approximately 1035 hours per week, including days and evenings

Overview

SartellSt. Stephen Community Education is seeking a motivated and experienced Aquatics Coordinator to lead, develop, and re-envision our aquatics programming. This key position focuses on building a high-quality, community-centered aquatics program with an emphasis on creating an engaging and progressive swimming lesson curriculum that meets the evolving needs of students and families.

The Aquatics Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring safe operations, strong staff leadership, and meaningful aquatic experiences for the SartellSt. Stephen community.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for SartellSt. Stephen Community Education's aquatics program
  • Design and oversee a comprehensive swimming lesson curriculum for various ages and skill levels
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate lifeguards, swim instructors, and aquatics staff
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and local/state aquatic regulations
  • Promote a welcoming, inclusive, and positive environment for participants, families, and staff
  • Coordinate scheduling, staffing, and daily aquatic operations
  • Respond professionally to participant inquiries, concerns, and incident reports
  • Maintain accurate records including staff certifications, attendance, and program evaluations
  • Collaborate with Community Education staff and other stakeholders to support program growth
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in aquatics program development, coordination, or supervision
  • Current Lifeguard certification with CPR/AED and First Aid (WSI preferred)
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and respond quickly in emergency situations
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, and weekends

Working Conditions

  • Work performed in an indoor pool environment
  • Exposure to water and pool chemicals
  • Active role requiring standing, walking, lifting, and emergency response

Preferred Qualifications: Instructor for Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid Training
