Aquatics Engineer (PE) | Commercial Pools & Water Features | Remote (U.S.)

We’re partnered with a growing engineering firm specializing in commercial building design and development projects, seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with experience in aquatic facility design.

This is a high-ownership, niche engineering role focused on swimming pools, water features, and aquatic systems, where you’ll serve as the technical lead with plan review and sealing authority.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead engineering design and oversight for commercial aquatic facilities (pools, water features, recreational systems)
  • Perform hydraulic calculations (circulation, filtration, flow, system performance)
  • Review, approve, and seal engineering drawings and calculations
  • Coordinate with MEP teams on pumps, filtration systems, controls, and electrical integration
  • Develop equipment specifications and support vendor coordination
  • Ensure designs meet health codes, permitting requirements, and industry standards
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and engineering teams to deliver buildable, efficient designs
  • Support light structural scope related to aquatic systems (foundations, site features)

What We’re Looking For

  • Active PE license (any U.S. state; Texas preferred but not required)
  • Direct experience with commercial pool / aquatics design
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Pool hydraulics
    • Filtration and circulation systems
    • Aquatic equipment and system layout
  • Experience reviewing and stamping engineering documents
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design tools
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a project-based environment

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Experience working at an aquatics design firm or specialized pool engineering group
  • Multi-state licensure or experience obtaining reciprocity
  • Exposure to hospitality, multifamily, or large-scale commercial aquatic projects
  • Structural design experience for light site or recreational structures
  • Experience with permitting and regulatory review processes

Why This Role Stands Out

  • True ownership role with stamping authority and technical leadership
  • Opportunity to stay focused in a specialized aquatics niche
  • Work across disciplines (MEP + structural coordination)
  • High visibility and direct collaboration with leadership
  • Small, entrepreneurial team with strong project pipeline

Location

  • Remote (U.S.-based)
  • Preference for Texas or candidates open to occasional travel
