THE POSITION
Under the general supervision this position is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations for City-wide aquatics facilities and programming. Responsibilities include determining the use of facilities ensuring quality customer service and safe facilities for guests.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
This is the advanced journey-level class in Aquatics Recreation series responsible for leading and supervising a group of seasonal staff in providing support of the Aquatics Program. The work involves the coordinating, scheduling, and assignment of multiple concurrent activities. This classification is distinguished from Aquatics Recreation Supervisor in that the latter is responsible for the overall planning, the leadership, supervision and developing and monitoring assigned budget for City-wide Aquatics Program.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED:
Supervision is provided by the Aquatics Recreation Supervisor or a higher-level management position. Responsibilities include supervision of seasonal aquatics staff, coordinate hiring, training and support of staff.

AA degree with major course work in recreation and leisure studies or directly related field.
Experience
Four years of experience to include two years of lead experience of an aquatic facility, and two years of seasonal guarding and lesson instruction.
Substitution
An additional two years of qualifying experience may substitute for the required education.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Driver License:
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License at the time of appointment. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to physical disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Eligibility: Candidates who pass the Training and Experience Test will be placed on the eligible list. The hiring department may contact candidates for interview at any time during the life of the one-year list. Candidate's eligibility expires one year from the date of notification of a passing score for the Aquatics Recreation Coordinator examination.
Screening Committee: (Pass/Fail)- All candidates that pass the examination and are in one of the top three ranks will have their application forwarded to the hiring department for review. The hiring department will select the most competitive applications for further consideration. Human Resources will only evaluate employment applications for the minimum qualifications, as stated on the job announcement, for applications selected by the hiring department.
Conditional Hire: Upon receipt of a conditional offer, the selected candidate must complete and pass LiveScan/fingerprinting. If applicable, candidates may also need to pass a pre-employment medical exam, controlled substance and/or alcohol test, and possess any required licensure or certification prior to receiving a start date from the Department. Failure to meet these prerequisites will be grounds for withdrawal of your conditional offer of employment.
