AR Specialist / Bookkeeper


A well-established, family-owned real estate organization with a long-standing track record is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist / Bookkeeper to join its team. The firm manages a diverse portfolio of commercial and residential healthcare properties nationwide.


Reporting to the Controller, this role will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounts receivable activities, while also supporting accounts payable and general bookkeeping functions. The ideal candidate is adaptable, organized, and comfortable wearing multiple hats.


Responsibilities:


Accounts Receivable

  • Apply daily cash receipts (checks, wires, ACH)
  • Prepare and post billings, credits, and adjustments for monthly statements
  • Run and review monthly AR reports
  • Manage collections and follow up on outstanding balances
  • Process and reconcile security deposits
  • Prepare weekly cash reporting for managed properties
  • Oversee residential lease setup and renewals
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close related to AR


Bookkeeping / Accounts Payable

  • Perform bank reconciliations and prepare journal entries
  • Process vendor invoices accurately and timely
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Support accounts payable as needed
  • Coordinate with external accountants
  • Set up new property files
  • Collect and maintain tax, insurance, and utility documentation


Qualifications:


  • Experience in real estate accounting or property management required
  • Proficiency with Yardi preferred
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Experience with collections and tenant interaction
  • Tech-savvy, with openness to leveraging new tools (including AI)
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
