Job Title: AR Technician Apprentice

Department: Shop

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary Range: $18 to $21 per hour

 

Job Summary:

Learning and developing practical skills, participating in on-the-job training, observing all safety and health regulations. This position will be learning to adapt skills learned to become a component technician that can independently repair, maintenance, and overhaul of aircraft components. They will perform or assist in various maintenance tasks, use various industry tools, equipment, chemicals, paints and compounds to ensure the airworthiness and safe operation of aircraft components repair and overhaul. Comprehension, attention to detail and a commitment to quality is daily mindset when adhering to established procedures and regulations.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Assist senior technicians with performing repairs, overhaul, and alterations on aircraft parts in accordance with current technical data, repair station procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Learn about and work with various industry chemicals, paints and compounds while ensuring a safe environment. All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided by the company.   
  • Learn and strictly follow standardized processes and guidelines to ensure compliance and quality standards are met.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the tools, equipment, and inspection aids used within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Assist with accurately recording all maintenance and alteration activities performed on the appropriate maintenance records of company’s computer system.
  • Continuous participation in classroom training, on-the-job training (OJT), and completing all necessary FAA training reading materials and forms.
  • Continuously enhance technical skills and knowledge to improve performance and adapt to evolving technologies and procedures.
  • Continually advancing ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine the feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Learning how to self-inspect work to certify that maintenance meets standards, and that components are airworthy.
  • Assisting with cleaning, stripping, and sanding structural surfaces and materials.
  • Learning how to accurately order supplies, parts, materials, and equipment to support work orders.
  • Learning basic fabrication methods using metal fabricating machines, saws, brakes, shears, and grinders.
  • Communicate with team members to coordinate the processing of repair parts.
  • All other Duties assigned.

 

 

Team Support and Leadership

  • Communicate effectively with other team members and departments providing updates on work progress and promptly reporting any difficulties or issues.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow, share knowledge, and contribute to a supportive work environment.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to housekeeping standards and safety protocols.

 

 

Safety and Compliance

  • Adhere to AR Aviation Services Employee Handbook. 
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures.
  • Adhere to all state and federal safety regulations, procedures, and regulations.
  • Always utilize proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
  • Adhere to AR Aviation Services FAA Drug and Alcohol policy and random drug tests requirements in compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Adhere to and follow all chemical Safety Data Sheets (SDS). 

 

 

Knowledge - Skills & Abilities Required

  • Basic knowledge and standard use of common industry tools.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Data entry.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Proficient in understanding, reading, and writing English.
  • Basic technical skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to learn and take detailed instruction.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and ability to work in a safe manner.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work under time constraints.

 

 

Qualifications

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

 

Education and/or Experience

  • High school completion or equivalent.
  • Basic mechanical experience desired.

 

 

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.  Must frequently lift /or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to operate required tooling.
