N&W is seeking Archaeological Field Technicians to assist with cultural resources investigations in Pennsylvania and surrounding states. This is an On-Call/temporary position. The position will primarily consist of fieldwork but may include other duties including laboratory work. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, performing archaeological tasks such as controlled surface collection, shovel test pit and test unit excavation, in addition to cleaning, inventorying, and labeling recovered artifacts.

Position Requirements

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field and six (6) months field experience.
  • Experience with a wide range of field methodologies, including pedestrian survey, shovel testing, and test unit excavation is preferred.
  • Previous archaeological survey experience in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware is a plus.
  • Current valid driver's license.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors, in sometime inclement weather. Candidates should also have good organizational skills, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to travel to project areas in Pennsylvania. Out-of-town work is expected and driving to project locations may be necessary.
