Senior Architect 1 (.NET Application Architect / Lead Developer)

The Franklin County Auditor's Office is seeking a Senior.NET Application Architect and Lead Developer to provide technical leadership for application migration and modernization initiatives following a recent tax accounting system implementation.

This role reports directly to the IT Director and involves assessing existing MVC-based and Entity Framework applications, defining architecture strategies, and leading hands-on development efforts in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.

This is a delivery-focused role requiring both architectural decision-making and active coding responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review existing MVC-based applications and identify required migration or modernization activities.
  • Define and recommend application architecture patterns and technical standards.
  • Break technical work into milestones, deliverables, and development tasks.
  • Provide development estimates and support project planning.
  • Lead hands-on development of.NET applications and APIs (REST & GraphQL).
  • Design, develop, and optimize SQL Server stored procedures, indexes, and queries.
  • Ensure best practices with Entity Framework (Code First) and data access patterns.
  • Develop and enhance front-end applications using React and PrimeReact components.
  • Collaborate with business analysts to convert functional requirements into technical designs.
  • Work closely with the development team, business analysts, and IT Project Manager on scope and sequencing.
  • Mentor developers through code reviews and troubleshooting.
  • Support development workflows using GitHub Enterprise.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and technical recommendations to leadership.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
  • Professional.NET development experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and improving existing applications and codebases.
  • Deep expertise in C#,.NET, and Entity Framework.
  • Strong experience designing and building RESTful APIs and GraphQL services.
  • Advanced SQL Server expertise, including stored procedures and indexing strategies.
  • Experience working with GitHub Enterprise.
  • Proven experience leading development efforts and mentoring developers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Highly Desired Skills
  • Experience migrating or modernizing legacy MVC applications.
  • Experience with React, Vite, and Node.js.
  • Experience improving or stabilizing applications in production environments.
