Description

This position helps provide and maintain facilities which give Church members places where they can worship, teach, learn, pray together, make and renew covenants, and receive sacred ordinances. Each Church facility that is built and/or maintained should 1) Provide a spiritual setting for members to worship, and 2) Present an image of reverence and dignity in the community.

Works under the direction of the Manager to define design and technical direction, direct design development and review construction documentation. Oversee the design for any architectural projects undertaken by the Church. Establish and direct the collaborative design and documentation process of outside design consultants. Provide a high level of professional design and documentation counsel on any Church design project.

Required:

  • Education - Bachelor of Architecture or Masters of Architecture
  • Experience - 10 years of post-education experience practicing architecture
  • License - A license to practice architecture in the country in which they are practicing.
  • Skill Level -Able to lead and direct design teams, oversee the development of designs and review construction documents for projects of high complexity. Able to evaluate the performance of project teams
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Proficient with computer programs such as Computer-aide design software and other document transfer systems.
  • Defines design and technical direction on complex Church related architectural projects. Understands and assists in the development of client programs, and assist clients in establishing a well-defined scope of work, schedules, budgets and other expectations.
  • Provides effective design leadership, management and supervision for the project design team through professional administration procedures, by carefully reviewing design development, by monitoring project progress, and by reviewing the work of all disciplines.
  • Direct the definition and documentation of in-house design and management processes based upon industry best-practice for the architectural disciplines.
  • Assures that all project requirements are properly established by performing an objective analysis and conducting effective meetings with the project team and management.
  • Reports project progress regularly by all communication means and by visual representations to ecclesiastical leaders, Church management, department clients and staff.
  • Improve architectural skills and expertise by attending seminars, reading books, trade journals, newsletters, and being active in professional architectural societies.
  • Defines design and technical direction on complex Church related architectural projects. Understands and assists in the development of client programs, and assist clients in establishing a well-defined scope of work, schedules, budgets and other expectations.
  • Provides effective design leadership, management and supervision for the project design team through professional administration procedures, by carefully reviewing design development, by monitoring project progress, and by reviewing the work of all disciplines.
