Position Overview

Are you an architect who thrives at the intersection of technical precision and visionary design? We are seeking a Project Architect or Senior Project Architectural Coordinator to anchor our Charlottesville team. This is more than a production role; it is a leadership mission to oversee the lifecycle of transformative community spaces. You will serve as the technical lynchpin for complex educational and commercial projects, translating high-level concepts into constructible realities that stand the test of time.

Joining our team means becoming part of a legacy defined by stability, mentorship, and architectural excellence. We understand that peak performance requires balance, which is why we offer a modern, candidate-centric work environment with flexible scheduling options and hybrid autonomy. Here, your expertise is rewarded not just with a seat at the table, but with a culture that respects your time and invests in your trajectory toward senior firm leadership.

Core Responsibilities

  • Architectural Stewardship: Lead the design development and technical execution of diverse projects from initial concept through final construction administration.

  • BIM Leadership: Architect high-fidelity, fully coordinated Revit models and construction documentation sets, ensuring seamless integration across all disciplines.

  • Project Governance: Manage complex workflows for renovations, additions, and new construction, maintaining rigorous quality control and code compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Strategic Collaboration: Act as the primary technical liaison between project managers, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams to resolve intricate design challenges.

  • Mentorship & Growth: Elevate the firm’s collective talent by providing technical guidance and design mentorship to junior architectural staff.

  • Client & Stakeholder Management: Direct communication with clients and contractors to ensure project milestones are met with precision and transparency.

  • Industry Innovation: Stay at the forefront of sustainable design trends and building code evolutions to ensure the firm remains a regional leader in AEC best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) from an accredited program.

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of progressive architectural experience with a proven track record in technical project delivery.

  • Software Proficiency: Expert-level command of Revit for complex modeling, detailing, and project coordination.

  • Technical Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of building systems, materials, and IBC/local building codes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensure: Active AIA licensure or a clear path to imminent registration.

  • Sector Experience: Specific expertise in K–12 Educational facilities or high-end commercial office projects.

  • Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with LEED/sustainable design principles or historic renovation protocols.

Why Join Us

We prioritize work-life integration by offering a Hybrid Schedule (Remote Mondays and Fridays) and two distinct ways to structure your week:

  • Option 1: A standard 5-day workweek with flexible daily start and end times.

  • Option 2: A compressed 4.5-day workweek (9-hour days Mon–Thu) with a half-day Friday morning.
