Architectural Designer II

Overview

VCBO Architecture is seeking an Architectural Designer II to contribute to the design and delivery of architectural projects within a collaborative studio environment. This role is based in our Utah office and is ideal for a developing architectural professional with experience in design, documentation, and project coordination.

You’ll contribute across multiple project phases, take increasing ownership of project responsibilities, and work alongside experienced architects and project leaders while continuing to grow your technical and design expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to design, documentation, and coordination across multiple project phases
  • Prepare drawings and models for schematic design, design development, and construction documentation
  • Apply knowledge of building systems, codes, and construction methods to project work
  • Coordinate with internal team members and consultants on project components
  • Support the preparation of client presentations, including graphics, renderings, and diagrams
  • Assist with construction administration tasks, including RFIs, submittals, and addenda
  • Maintain quality, organization, and consistency in project deliverables
  • Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members
  • Collaborate with project architects and managers to meet project goals, schedules, and deadlines

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or related field
  • Typically 3–7 years of professional architectural experience
  • Proficiency in Revit; familiarity with additional design tools such as SketchUp, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
  • Working knowledge of building codes, construction documentation, and coordination practices
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a project team
  • Interest in pursuing architectural licensure encouraged; licensure is not required
