Job Title: Architectural Designer
Job Description
This permanent Architectural Designer position supports a growing portfolio of workplace and real estate / amenity-driven projects in New York. You will contribute to project delivery from early design through documentation and, depending on your experience, into construction administration. In this role, you will either focus on technical production or serve as a technical lead on small to mid-sized projects, collaborating closely with architects, interior designers, project managers, and leadership to ensure technical accuracy, design quality, and timely delivery across all phases.
Responsibilities
- Support project delivery from concept design through detailed documentation and, for more experienced designers, into construction administration.
- Produce accurate and coordinated design and construction documents for commercial interior architecture and workplace projects.
- Use Revit daily for modeling, documentation, and coordination as a core production tool.
- Collaborate closely with architects, interior designers, consultants, project managers, and leadership to maintain design intent and technical quality.
- Develop space plans, furniture layouts, and finish and equipment documentation for corporate, workplace, office, and commercial spaces.
- Assist with or lead technical aspects of small to mid-sized projects, depending on experience level.
- Contribute to project coordination by responding to internal team questions and helping to resolve design and technical issues.
- Support construction administration activities such as reviewing RFIs, submittals, and participating in site visits, as experience allows.
- Conduct site surveys and on-site observations to verify existing conditions and support accurate documentation, when needed.
- Research materials, assist with specifications, and help prepare design presentations and supporting documentation.
- Help ensure that projects align with applicable codes, ADA requirements, zoning, and jurisdictional processes through research and coordination.
- Manage time effectively across multiple concurrent projects and deadlines, maintaining strong organization and clear communication.
- Present design ideas and project updates to internal teams and, when appropriate, to clients.
- Contribute to a collaborative, design-forward culture that values storytelling through design and continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
- 3-7 years of experience in architectural design for workplace-focused projects, or 2-5 years of experience for real estate / amenities-focused projects.
- Commercial interior architecture or architectural design experience, particularly in corporate, workplace, office space, or other commercial environments.
- Strong proficiency in Revit with daily production use for modeling and documentation.
- Demonstrated experience producing design and construction documents for interior architecture projects.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with architects, interior designers, consultants, project managers, and leadership.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational abilities.
- Strong BIM and 3D modeling skills applied to real-world project workflows.
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited program.
- Proficiency with design and production software including Revit (required).
- Working knowledge of Bluebeam for document review and markup.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office for presentations and project documentation.
- Ability to research materials, assist with specifications, and support the preparation of design presentations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience on workplace, amenities, hospitality, or repositioning projects.
- Experience owning portions of a project or independently running smaller projects.
- Familiarity with construction administration processes, including RFIs, submittal review, and participation in site visits.
- Exposure to code analysis, ADA requirements, zoning regulations, and jurisdictional approval processes.
- Experience working across multiple concurrent projects while managing priorities and deadlines.
- Comfort presenting design ideas and project updates to internal teams and clients.
- Experience conducting site surveys and on-site observations to document existing conditions (preferred).
- Interest in working within a design-forward, interdisciplinary environment with a strong emphasis on storytelling through design.
- Motivation to grow technically, expand project ownership, and develop leadership capabilities over time.
Work Environment
The role is based in a collaborative studio environment with a hybrid schedule of three days in the office and two days remote each week. You will work within a team-oriented culture that emphasizes close collaboration, mentorship, and direct access to leadership and project decision-makers. The studio supports an interdisciplinary approach to commercial, workplace, and real estate projects, with a strong focus on design quality, technical rigor, and storytelling through design. You will use tools such as Revit, Bluebeam, Enscape, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Office in your daily work, and you will have opportunities to grow your skills while taking on increasing levels of project ownership.
