Architectural Designer - Multifamily & Mixed-Use Design

An award-winning architecture and urban design firm is seeking an Intermediate Architectural Designer to join its collaborative Southern California studio. This is an opportunity to contribute to high-profile multifamily, mixed-use, hospitality, and urban infill developments that are helping address the growing demand for housing in some of the region"s most dynamic communities.

What You"ll Do

As part of a design-focused team, you"ll play a key role in developing architectural concepts and transforming ideas into compelling, buildable solutions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating architectural concepts for multifamily, mixed-use, and hospitality developments
  • Developing exterior elevations, facade studies, and building articulation strategies
  • Producing massing studies and design options for urban and constrained sites
  • Translating design ideas into SketchUp and Revit models
  • Generating multiple design alternatives for internal and client presentations
  • Preparing renderings, graphics, diagrams, and presentation materials using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Supporting schematic design and early design-development efforts
  • Participating in design reviews and incorporating feedback into evolving concepts
  • Communicating design intent clearly to project teams and leadership
  • Collaborating with architects, planners, and project stakeholders throughout the design process

What We"re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor"s Degree in Architecture

  • Approximately 3-5 years of professional architectural experience

  • Experience supporting multifamily residential projects

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating:

  • Exterior elevations

  • Building massing

  • Facade design

  • Architectural concept development

  • Visual communication skills

  • Proficiency with:

  • SketchUp

  • Revit

  • Photoshop

  • Illustrator

  • InDesign

  • Ability to generate architectural ideas through both hand sketching and digital modeling

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work onsite in Downtown Los Angeles three days per week

Ideal Candidate

The strongest candidates will be able to show not only what they worked on, but what they personally designed.

You enjoy exploring multiple design solutions, thinking critically about form and architecture, and explaining the reasoning behind your design decisions. You are comfortable moving between sketching, modeling, visualization, and presentation while balancing creativity with real-world project constraints.

A portfolio is required for consideration. Applicants should include work samples that clearly demonstrate their individual design contributions, particularly related to exterior architecture, multifamily housing, massing studies, and facade development.

This is a Permanent position based out of Los Angeles, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $43.00/hr.
