Architectural Staff III - Job Captain (2)
Role Description: Huitt-Zollars is seeking a mid-level architectural professional to join our Institutional Practice, supporting a diverse portfolio of healthcare, and educational projects. This role involves contributing to the design, coordination, and delivery of projects, with responsibility for independently managing defined portions of work across multiple active assignments.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical judgment, the ability to work with increasing independence, and a commitment to professional growth, including active pursuit of architectural licensure or current registration. Duties:
Project Delivery & Technical Execution
- Contribute to and lead defined portions of design development and execution.
- Produce and coordinate complete drawing sets and construction documents.
- Apply building codes, accessibility requirements, and technical standards in project delivery.
- Participate in construction phase services, including submittal review, site visits, and coordination with contractors.
Project Ownership & Coordination
- Independently manage defined portions of project scope with oversight from Project Managers.
- Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, and stakeholders across disciplines.
- Resolve design and technical issues within assigned scope, escalating complex issues as needed.
- Partner with Project Managers to maintain schedules, deliverables, and project performance.
Client & Project Exposure
- Supports multiple active projects with varying scopes and timelines.
- Participate in client meetings and coordination efforts, with increasing responsibility over time.
- Develop familiarity with client standards and contribute to ongoing project relationships.
Team Leadership
- Provide guidance to junior staff and assist in reviewing work for quality and coordination.
- Contribute to efficient project delivery through clear communication and proactive problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:

- Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Assists PM on ensuring that quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.

- Assist with appropriate administrative and project support tasks supporting the needs of the PM on assigned project tasks.
- Contributes to successful delivery and performance of projects.
- Complete assignments on-time, within budget, and with highest level of quality.
- Routinely proposes and produces more effective ways to accomplish tasks.
- Effectively leads, creates, plans, executes project tasks on a project.

Qualifications:
- Actively pursuing architectural licensure or licensed/eligible for reciprocity.
- Minimum 5-7 years of professional experience, preferably in institutional, healthcare, or educational projects.
- Strong understanding of building systems, materials, and construction documentation.
- Proficiency in Revit and standard design/visualization tools.
- Ability to manage priorities across multiple projects and deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project scopes with limited supervision.
- Applies professional judgment in design and technical decision-making
- Coordinates effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Contributes to both project delivery and technical quality.
- Portfolio Required.
