Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High
school
diploma
or
GED
required
Special
Knowledge/Skills:
Proficient
keyboarding,
word
processing,
and
file
maintenance
skills
Effective
communication
and
interpersonal
skills
Basic
math
skills
and
calculator
operations
Ability
to
use
computer
software
to
develop
spreadsheets,
databases,
and
word
processing
documents
Ability
to
use
a
copier,
fax
machine,
and
multifunction
telephone
system
Ability
to
maintain
confidentiality
Attention
to
detail
and
accuracy
in
documentation
Strong
organizational
and
time-management
skills
Knowledge
of
special
education
terminology
and
the
Admission,
Review
and
Dismissal
(ARD)
process
Bilingual
in
Spanish,
both
oral
and
written,
preferred
Experience:
Two
years
of
secretarial
experience,
preferably
in
the
public
education
environment
Major
Responsibilities
and
Duties:
Compile
pertinent
data
when
preparing
various
federal,
state,
and
local
reports.
Schedule,
complete,
and
send
ARD
notices
to
parents
and
relevant
staff
via
multiple
channels
within
mandated
timelines.
Assist
assessment
staff
in
compiling
documentation
in
preparation
for
ARD
meetings
and
evaluations.
Create
and
maintain
physical
and
computerized
department
files.
Assist
in
providing
documentation
to
appropriate
personnel
to
ensure
accurate
scheduling
for
students
receiving
special
education
services.
Answer
incoming
calls,
take
reliable
messages,
and
route
them
to
the
appropriate
staff
using
professional
communication.
Assist
special
education
staff
with
IEP
document
preparation,
dissemination,
and
data
entry.
Maintain
a
high
level
of
confidentiality
at
all
times.
Other
Participate
in
professional
growth
activities.
Perform
other
duties
as
assigned.

maintain
emotional
control
while
under
stress.
Extended
