Area Coach (Connecticut Territory)

Reports to: Director of Operations

Provides overall leadership and coaching to and direct supervision of approximately 6-8 Daves Hot Chicken restaurants to ensure that each Restaurant General Manager (RGM) meets or exceeds the Annual Operating Plan established for their restaurant. Trains, develops, manages, and motivates restaurant management including Assistant Managers and Shift Managers. Establishes and maintains company standards in guest service, food safety, and product and facility maintenance.

What You’ll Do: The main responsibility of the Area Coach (AC) is to provide support for the RGMs. The AC accomplishes these objectives by taking a servant leadership approach, actively engaging in the coaching and direction of RGMs and Assistant Managers/Shift Leaders on a day-to-day basis. Focal points include establishing and reviewing unit-specific performance targets in guest service, margin improvement, and employee satisfaction. Other focus areas include maintaining company standards in food safety, product, and facility specifications, allocating limited capital budgets to meet highest priority facility needs, introducing and reinforcing new company products and initiatives, and selecting, training, developing and motivating managerial employees. The AC may directly perform hands-on operational work as necessary to train new managerial employees, respond to immediate or severe customer service needs, or otherwise model appropriate skills and behaviors in the restaurant. Essential functions:

       

  • Provides day-to-day coaching and direction of RGMs, Assistant Managers and Shift Managers.    
  • Maintains store-specific performance targets in Guest Satisfaction, OPI, REV, Health and Safety Inspections, etc. Coaches store management to increase proficiency in all areas.  
  • Builds and promotes a strong bench of talented restaurant leaders through training and development, performance management, and effective hiring.
  • Leads recognition efforts within market, including developing and maintaining an employee-oriented and customer-focused store culture emphasizing collaboration, team-work and process improvements.  
  • Travels throughout market on scheduled and unscheduled visits to restaurants, to conduct audits, understand the guest experience and ensure all restaurants are consistently ready for third party inspections.
  • Coach managers on how to improve and maintain the highest quality standards.   
  • Develops strong understand of the financial aspects of restaurant management, including inventory; analyzes financial performance and understands trends. Imparts financial knowledge to store managers.       
  • Coaches teams on ways to drive sales and maximize profitability.

What Will Make You Successful:

  • BS Degree in Hospitality, Management or related discipline or equivalent restaurant management experience.    
  • Associates or Undergraduate degree or equivalent Food & Beverage industry experience.
  • 6-8 years supervisory experience in either a food service or retail environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of Food & Beverage performance metrics, product specifications and management systems.
  • Technically proficient in all aspects of food preparation, production, and delivery. Displays detailed knowledge of all key food handling/food safety procedures.
  • Demonstrated track record of workplace achievement in the selection, coaching and development of managerial employees.      
  • Proven ability to drive customer satisfaction, financial performance, and employee satisfaction.
  • Able to oversee and manage subordinate employees and provide direction.
  • Experience in a multi-unit operation business, such as restaurant/hospitality or retail.

Physical Requirements – Ability to move freely throughout restaurants. Ability to communicate via phone including hearing and talking. Ability to perform sedentary work such as computer-based work. Ability to utilize close visual acuity such as for creating and analyzing data/spreadsheets, word documents, and graphic designs.

Travel - ability to drive a motor vehicle and travel to restaurants and other business locations on a regular basis.
