Position Type: Full-Time | Salaried Management
THIS IS A MANAGEMENT POSITION REQUIRING PREVIOUS LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE
Clean Team Inc. is seeking an experienced Area Operations Manager to lead commercial cleaning operations throughout the Toledo market.
This is not an entry-level cleaning position.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing employees across multiple customer locations, maintaining staffing levels, controlling labor hours, developing frontline employees and supervisors, addressing performance concerns, and ensuring Clean Team's operational and customer-service standards are consistently met.
We are looking for a proven leader who is comfortable making decisions, holding employees accountable, solving problems in real time, and taking ownership of the performance of an assigned territory.
Previous management experience is required.
About the Role
As an Area Operations Manager, you will serve as the primary operational leader for an assigned group of customer facilities.
You will spend much of your shift in the field rather than behind a desk. This includes visiting customer locations, interacting with employees and customers, inspecting work, addressing staffing issues, coaching employees, responding to call-offs, and ensuring each account is operating according to expectations.
This position requires someone who can manage multiple priorities simultaneously and remain effective when plans change.
A successful Area Operations Manager doesn't simply identify problems - they take ownership of getting them resolved.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day operations across multiple commercial customer locations
Direct, coach, develop, and hold employees accountable for performance
Communicate clear job expectations and productivity standards
Conduct routine site visits and quality inspections
Monitor service quality and initiate corrective action when standards are not met
Maintain appropriate staffing levels throughout the assigned territory
Respond to employee absences, call-offs, turnover, and other staffing challenges
Coordinate employee placement and relocation between customer locations when necessary
Manage budgeted labor hours versus actual worked hours
Identify overtime, productivity, and labor-hour concerns and take corrective action
Participate in interviewing, onboarding, training, and development of employees
Address employee concerns professionally and promptly
Participate in investigations, coaching, corrective action, and disciplinary processes
Build employee morale, engagement, accountability, and retention
Maintain professional relationships with customers and respond to service concerns
Identify operational trends and develop practical solutions
Communicate account performance, staffing concerns, and operational needs to senior management
Enforce company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and performance standards
Maintain accurate operational documentation and follow-up
Assist with cleaning or account coverage when operationally necessary
Who We're Looking For
This position requires someone who can lead people and manage operations, not simply perform the work.
Qualified candidates should demonstrate:
Previous management or supervisory experience REQUIRED
Experience directly managing and holding employees accountable
Experience coaching, mentoring, developing, and training employees
Ability to manage multiple employees and locations simultaneously
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Ability to manage staffing challenges and rapidly changing priorities

Ability to manage conflict and difficult employee situations professionally
Ability to understand and manage labor-hour expectations
Ability to work independently without constant supervision
Strong sense of urgency and personal accountability
Ability to build productive relationships with employees and customers
Comfortable working primarily in a field-based operational environment
