Arena/Park Maintenance Worker

Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Supervisor of Parks & Recreation/Four Seasons Centre, the Part-Time Area/Park Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of functions and activities associated with facility/event set-ups and tear downs for ice and dry floor events; performing ice sheet maintenance, care and resurfacing; performing facility custodial activities; performing building and ground maintenance activities at County parks/recreational areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lays out and prepares arena for various activities; sets up and tears down ice rink; prepares and sets up and tears down needs for dry floor activities.
• Maintains park and recreation areas; mows grass, operates weed whips; rakes sand beach; picks up and empties trash; cleans restrooms and park facilities.
• Sets up and delivers show mobile and small stage.
• Maintains ice sheet; resurfaces ice; edges ice rink; floods ice; sharpens skates. Learns and monitors ice plant.
• Operates scoreboard and lighting and sound equipment; sells tickets.
• Performs a variety of custodial duties such as washing, sweeping, vacuuming, polishing, mopping, mowing grass, and removing snow.
• Performs various routine carpentry, electrical, painting and plumbing tasks.
• Assists in and supervises hockey games and tournaments, banquets, dances and other arena activities.
• Assists facility users with needs, concerns and/or requests. Provides high quality customer service to internal and external users and customers. Follows customer service best practices.
• Performs other duties of a comparable level or type, as required.
