Purpose of Position and Scope of Responsibility: Is responsible for carrying out the goals and mission of Bethel University and the Department of Safety and Security. This person is responsible for patrolling, securing, and protecting the university campus to ensure a safe work and educational environment for all students, staff, faculty, and campus visitors. This position is for the main campus in McKenzie, Tennessee; however, officers may be required to perform duties at off-campus properties or other campus locations.
Under the general direction of Dean of Students.
Under the direct supervision of Chief of Security.
Responsible for 1 shift, 8 hours/day, 5 days/week. Incumbents are subject to overtime as deemed necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

Licensure, Registration, Certification
Be at least 25 years of age.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Security experience is preferred.
Possess a valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
Pass a background check, drug screening, and psychological examination.
Able to obtain an Armed Security License, Aerosol and Handcuff certification, and CPR/AED certification.

1-2 years experience in armed security or comparable experience is desired.

Physical Requirements:
Work requires the physical demands of standing, bending, lifting, stooping or performing other work requiring light physical exertion (up to 30 pounds) on an occasional basis (up to 15% of time) and frequent walking; or moderate physical exertion (up to 50 pounds) on an intermittent basis (not a routine part of the job).

Work involves intermittent to occasional exposure to unpleasant working conditions or undesirable elements; may involve some contact with potentially hazardous or harmful elements in providing administrative or support services.
