JOB SUMMARY:

The Armed Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment at an assigned government site/facility. This position serves as a visible deterrent and is responsible for enforcing security protocols, protecting personnel and assets, and responding to incidents in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) and site-specific regulations.

This role requires a high level of professionalism, firearms proficiency, and the ability to respond effectively to emergency situations within a controlled government environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform armed internal and external patrols of assigned areas, including restricted zones, facilities, and perimeter areas
• Enforce access control procedures, verifying credentials, badges, and vehicle access in accordance with base security requirements
• Maintain a strong visible security presence to deter unauthorized activity and ensure force protection
• Respond to security incidents, alarms, disturbances, and emergencies, taking appropriate action within the scope of authority
• Prepare accurate and detailed incident reports and daily activity logs
• Provide escort services for contractors, vendors, and visitors requiring access to controlled areas
• Conduct randomized patrols to prevent predictable patterns
• Safely carry, maintain, and operate assigned firearm and related equipment in accordance with company policy and applicable laws
• Comply with all DoD, government, and client-specific security directives and post orders
• Assist with emergency response procedures, drills, and force protection measures
• Ensure assigned posts are secured at the end of each shift

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Have a minimum of one (2) year of experience performing armed security guard duties

• Prior military, law enforcement, or armed security experience strongly preferred

• Demonstrated experience working in high-security or government environments preferred

• Ability to interact professionally with a diverse population, including active-duty personnel, veterans, and individuals who may experience cognitive, mental health, or substance-related challenges

• Must successfully complete and pass all pre-employment screening requirements, including:

• Drug screening

• Background investigation/fingerprinting

• Must be able to obtain and maintain base access clearance for government facility

• Must possess a valid armed security license (as required by state/local law)

• Must meet and maintain firearms qualification standards

• Strong communication, observation, and report-writing skills

• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations

• 8-hour shifts
• Day, Swing, and Night shifts as assigned
• Weekends and holidays as needed

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to reliably commute to site
• Must hold or be able to obtain a valid Security Guard License (as required by state/local law)
• Prior customer service experience preferred
