The award-winning Art and Soul restaurant is situated on the ground level inside YOTEL Washington DC. The new Art and Soul keeps its legacy alive with a refreshed menu that introduces an original take on seasonal, locally-sourced dishes from the Chesapeake Bay watershed communities and the diverse cuisines that influence modern-American food today. Our patio is ideal for al fresco dining under the Capitol Hill dome while our inspiring interior offers great conversation pieces for both intimate dinners and private events. The Art and Soul Server is responsible for creating a relaxed yet polished experiance for restaurant guests and fellow crew members. Our servers don't just record guest orders, they give enticing suggestions, conduct full and complete food/wine/beverage service, and monitor guests’ dining experience during their entire meal. This position will exclusivly work the breakfast and lunch seatings. Major Duties & Responsibilities: •Be knowledgeable on all food served in restaurant and any associated allergies. •Take orders and use PMS system to relay orders to food and beverage preparation areas. •Serve food and beverage to guests using the brand standards for timing and hospitality. •Observe and monitor guests during the dining experience to respond to all needs the guest may have. •Request identification from guests ordering alcohol when legal age is questionable. •Adhere to all responsible alcohol consumption requirements as dictated by the state. •Guarantee table maintenance is upheld throughout the guests’ dining experience (including but not limited to): clearing, resetting tables and crumbing. •Present bill to guests ensuring accuracy, accept payment for bill. •Complete all end of shift paperwork (including but not limited to): make sure checks are closed, check charge totals and batch checks, reconcile all promos and voids, claim tips. •Servers are responsible to self-bank and close out checks to all forms of payment including cash. •Follow all cash handling and bank operating procedures. •Helps to maintain the cleanliness and integrity of the restaurant by completing all side duties and special projects as issued by management daily. Clean floor and chairs continuously during assigned shift and station, using dusters to collect debris from the carpet and chairs. • In order to be efficient each server will restock items, return menus, and other equipment used throughout their shift so that the incoming shift is prepared for success. • Adherence to all sanitation policies and protocols while embodying the Art and Soul Food & Beverage concept understanding how his/her actions and execution directly affect the guest experience. • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures. |
