## Position Summary
Provide competent classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of credentialed expertise. The instructor will adhere to the general faculty guidelines as specified by the Calhoun Community College Personnel Handbook, the Vice President of Academic Affairs, and the Alabama Community College System policy.

An additional summer assignment may be available: $14,384 - $29,184 (3 months)
(Salary placement within this range is determined by your academic credentials and documented years of full-time related work experience)

## Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provide competent classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of credentialed expertise.
2. Teach freshman and sophomore level classes, primarily in Art Appreciation, although occasionally this instructor might be required to teach classes in Art History, Drawing, Two and Three Dimensional Composition, Color, Print Making, Ceramics, Water Color/Painting, Painting, Sculpture, Art Portfolio, or Supervised Study in Studio Art.
3. Evaluate the progress of students in all classes according to institutional, divisional, departmental, and individual criteria.
4. Collect, maintain, and submit accurate class records including grades, absences, withdrawal, and/or class drop information to appropriate offices.
5. Prepare or assist in the preparation of materials used in academic administration when requested, including course syllabi, program outlines, and catalog material.
6. Participate in scheduled in-service activities.
7. Provide academic and career advice to students and promote student leadership and enrichment experiences.
8. Assist in the development of discipline-specific student learning outcome objectives.
9. Assess student learning using multiple assessment strategies.
10. Analyze and interpret data relative to student learning and provide feedback to the institution and students for the purpose of improving and expanding student learning.
11. Be prompt and punctual in reporting for work. Maintain assigned office hours.
12. Continue as competent instructor in the chosen specialty by seeking new knowledge, improving teaching skills, and updating professional competencies.
13. Promote positive and productive relationships with service area businesses, industries, and agencies.
14. Provide advice to the administration on matters pertaining to the instru tional program, class scheduling, and adjunct recruitment.
15. Serve on committees engaged in furthering the work of the institution when appointed or when elected.
16. Become familiar with institutional policies and procedures as outlined in the *College Catalog*, *Personnel Handbook*, and *State Board Policy Manual*; and follow such policies and procedures.
17. Perform other appropriate professional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
## Qualifications
1. A minimum of a Masters degree with at least eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline from an accredited institution is
required.
2. Documented evidence in the proficiency of use current educational technologies in the classroom including internet, e-mail, and computer software programs (e.g. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc.) is
required.
Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate through their experiences and accomplishments.
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Demonstrated expertise in the subject area;
Ability to conduct individual and small group instruction;
