Salary Range

$16.56 - $17.88 or per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Maximum salary upon new hire is $16.56.

Working Hours and/or Working Conditions

To be scheduled by the department as needed, but not to exceed 25 per week. Days and hours may vary and may include evenings and weekends.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Some heavy lifting required, must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must have good communication and interpersonal skills. Must show sensitivity in handling art works. Quantitative and technical skills necessary for studio art support. Attention to detail and organization important. It is preferable that the candidate be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of Fine Art Studios and have a broad understanding of varying processes and media including, but not limited to: Ceramics, basic welding, basic woodworking, Adobe Creative Cloud programs, operation of a DSLR camera, use of a light kit. Working knowledge of 3D printer software and 3D printer are a plus.

Supervision

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Associate Dean, Humanities. Takes on-site direction from full-time faculty in the Area. SUPERVISION GIVEN: None.

Job Function

Assist faculty in maintaining and equipping art studio classrooms for instructional use, and perform related work to support the art program including gallery support.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain and secure an adequate inventory of supplies and maintain records and process paperwork assigned Prepare requests for supplies, equipment, and services for approval of the faculty and associate dean.
  • Keep the art studios and equipment clean, and safe, and in good working order for instructional use while maintaining OSHA safety standards.
  • Check equipment to ensure it is in working order.
  • Maintains effective contact with Plant Operations to assure working order of facilities and equipment, and requests repairs when necessary.
  • Support the area's gallery showings, including completion of required paperwork and participating in installation and take-down of exhibits.
  • Maintain department machinery.
  • Support open studio time for students by monitoring student sign ins, enforcing studio safety and rules, and ensuring studios are cleaned at the end of open studio time. Maintain effective communication with the Associate Dean, providing periodic reports on activities, plans, needs, and concerns related to the duties/responsibilities of the position and the instruction program in art.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Art programs and Humanities department.

Education

BFA or MFA, preferred. Experience related to the responsibilities of the job desirable; the college will provide training on specific requirements.
