Art Handler

Job Duties

  • Artwork Installation & Handling: Install, uninstall, inspect, move, and handle artworks across residential, commercial, corporate, and institutional settings with care, ensuring safe transport and effective team communication.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform cleaning and preventative maintenance per guidelines, documenting conditions and promptly reporting issues or recommendations.
  • Recordkeeping & Cataloging: Complete and maintain accurate operational documentation, inventories, and condition reports; support collection management from storage through installation.
  • Artwork Transportation: Wrap, pack, and prepare artworks for transport or storage.
  • Workplace Standards: Maintain tour-ready housekeeping, work independently with minimal supervision, and comply with all Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2-4 years related experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with standard museum practices, terminology, and art history.
  • Excellent problem-solving, time management/organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Team player, ability to work with all levels of staff in a dynamic environment.
  • Working knowledge of outdoor sculpture materials. Ability to carry out work required in lifting and transporting art works. Rigging experience.
  • Awareness and understanding of mounts, supports, and structures. Mounting or frame-making experience a plus.
