Precision Packouts is a growing contents and textiles restoration business, specializing in the recovery and restoration of personal and commercial property affected by fire, water, mold, and other disasters throughout the Texas and Oklahoma areas. Our mission is to provide top-tier restoration services while building long-term partnerships with restoration companies, insurance adjusters, and clients.
The Art Restoration Expert plays a critical role in delivering on our core values of Commitment to Quality Service and Continuous Improvement, Caring, and Communication. This person leads our handling, assessment, and restoration of fine art, collectibles, and high-value items affected by loss events.
This individual will primarily spend their time:
- Assessing, documenting, and restoring artwork and high-value contents to our quality standards.
- Guiding field staff on the safe handling, packout, storage, and packback of fine art and delicate items.
- Working with insureds, adjusters, and outside specialists to set clear expectations for art-related recovery.
Responsibilities
- Perform condition assessments on paintings, works on paper, sculpture, frames, antiques, and other collectibles, and document pre-existing and loss-related damage
- Triage damaged artwork on site and stabilize items to prevent further deterioration from soot, moisture, mold, or heat
- Perform or oversee cleaning and restoration treatments suited to each object's materials, including soot and smoke residue removal, water damage mitigation, and mold remediation
- Decide which items can be restored in-house and which must go to outside conservators, and coordinate that work
- Direct proper packing, crating, and transport of fine art and fragile items to prevent damage
- Maintain proper environmental conditions for artwork in storage, including temperature, humidity, and light exposure
- Train and advise technicians on safe art handling practices
- Prepare restoration scopes, photo documentation, and written reports to support insurance claims, and coordinate with appraisers and adjusters as needed
- Communicate with insureds about the condition, treatment plan, and expected outcome for their items
- Operate ContentsPal inventory software on a company-provided iPhone
- Make job-related updates in the Proven Jobs Desktop and Proven Jobs Mobile application
- Ensure all operations procedures and protocols are followed on active jobs, in the warehouse, and while traveling to or from job locations
- Maintain tools, materials, and equipment used in restoration work
- Drive company vehicles, including the 16-foot box truck, as needed
- Assist with obtaining online company reviews from customers
- Apply corporate values
The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of art materials and restoration methods, a caring spirit, and a commitment to excellent customer service.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in art restoration, art conservation, or fine art handling, preferably including disaster recovery work
- Degree or formal training in art conservation, fine arts, art history, or a related field preferred
- Working knowledge of conservation ethics and best practices (e.g., the AIC Code of Ethics)
- Bilingual speakers (English & Spanish) strongly preferred
- IICRC certifications preferred (e.g., FSRT, WRT, AMRT)
- Eligible to operate a motor vehicle per Blue Kangaroo's Motor Vehicle policy

- Experience working with insurance claims, appraisers, or adjusters

- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Physical Requirements: The employee must regularly lift and/or move between 25 and 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, sit, see fine detail, use hands and fingers for precise work and to type on a keyboard, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear.
