The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an educator who views the art room not just as a place to paint, but as a hub for critical thinking, self-expression, and community leadership. Our ideal candidate brings a vibrant artistic background paired with the structured classroom management needed to keep a room full of young artists safe, focused, and inspired.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Qualities

  • Curriculum & Standards Mastery: Design and deliver a dynamic K-8 art curriculum rooted in state art standards, ensuring a sequential and comprehensive arts education.

  • Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, highly organized, and positive studio environment. You know how to balance the beautiful mess of an art room with clear, consistent routines.

  • Understanding of Student Development: Demonstrate a deep understanding of cognitive and motor skill development from ages 5 to 14, tailoring projects so they are developmentally appropriate and engaging for all levels.

  • Creativity & Flexibility: Bring fresh, innovative project ideas to life while remaining flexible enough to adapt lessons on the fly to meet diverse student needs and school schedules.

  • Collaboration & Leadership: Act as a leader within our school community. You will collaborate regularly with classroom teachers on cross-curricular projects and proudly showcase student work throughout the school and local community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Art Education or related field.

  • Valid Wisconsin Teaching License in Art Education (K-8 or K-12).

  • Proven teaching experience in an art studio classroom setting preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
