Art Teacher

Position Summary

Paris Consolidated J1 School District is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and student-centered K-8 Art Teacher to join our school community. This is a 0.60 FTE position serving students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.

The successful candidate will provide engaging and developmentally appropriate art instruction that encourages creativity, self-expression, confidence, and an appreciation for the visual arts.

The Art Teacher will develop and deliver meaningful art experiences for students across K-8 while working collaboratively with classroom teachers and other staff to support the overall educational experience of our students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned art instruction for students in grades K-8.
• Develop age-appropriate lessons that introduce students to a variety of artistic techniques, materials, and mediums.
• Provide opportunities for students to explore drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, design, and other forms of artistic expression.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment where students feel comfortable taking creative risks.
• Encourage creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and self-expression through the arts.
• Assess student learning and provide meaningful feedback to students.
• Maintain appropriate classroom routines, procedures, and expectations.
• Manage and maintain art materials, supplies, equipment, and classroom space.
• Display and celebrate student artwork throughout the school and community when appropriate.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and other staff to support student learning and school-wide initiatives.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and administration.
• Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, school activities, and other district responsibilities.
• Support the mission, vision, and goals of Paris Consolidated J1 School District.

Qualifications

• Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students preferred.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Ability to create engaging and developmentally appropriate art experiences for students across K-8.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage art materials and supplies effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families.
• Commitment to creating a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.
