Position 1: Lead Art Teacher (0.70 FTE)

Primary Purpose:

Provide instructional leadership for the 8th grade art through curriculum design, direct instruction, assessment,

and oversight of student learning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and maintain standards-aligned curriculum, unit plans, and daily lesson plans.

Provide direct instruction to students three days per week.

Develop and oversee all student art projects and performance tasks.

Assess student work and maintain all grading responsibilities.

Communicate with families regarding student progress, concerns, and celebrations.

Monitor student achievement and adjust instruction as needed.

Participate in professional development, department collaboration, and school-based initiatives.

Provide direction and guidance to the Studio Lead regarding project expectations, pacing, and student

outcomes.

Ensure continuity and quality of the school's Art program.

Position 2: Studio Lead (Two Days Per Week)

Primary Purpose:

Provide supervision and instructional support for students as they engage in art projects and learning

experiences designed by the Lead Art Teacher.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise Art classes during designated Studio Lead days.

Support students in completing projects and assignments developed by the Lead Art Teacher.

Reinforce project expectations, classroom procedures, and routines.

Monitor student engagement, behavior, and work completion.

Provide feedback to the Lead Art Teacher regarding student progress and project completion.

Maintain classroom organization, materials, and studio procedures.

Ensure continuity of learning between direct instruction days and studio work days.

Responsibilities Specifically Not Included:

Curriculum development

Lesson planning

Student grading

Parent communication regarding academic performance

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and valid Michigan teaching certification with endorsement in content area
  • Eligibility to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Experience with project-based learning preferred
