Length of Assignment: 6 Months Contract to Hire role

Function of the Group: Design, implementation, and optimization of large scale Aruba wireless networks in a complex enterprise environment.
Initiatives/Projects: Ensuring wireless and NAC architectures align with network as code and infrastructure as code principles, while operating in a highly regulated enterprise network.

Industry background: Expertise in Aruba WLAN architecture, ClearPass policy services, internet offload and guest access designs.

Overview
  • The team is small but managing a very large backlog and is looking to add talent to support delivery.
  • They are transitioning toward Aruba-based networking solutions, with a strong emphasis on wireless.

Core Technical Requirements
  • Primary focus: Aruba experience (most critical requirement)
  • Strong expertise in wireless networking, particularly handling complex RF issues
  • Proven design and engineering experience in Aruba environments (not just support or implementation)
  • Hands-on experience is essential; candidates must have been in the weeds, actively contributing to design work not just participating at a high level
  • Experience with:
    • Designing, testing, and deploying solutions
    • Writing runbooks and documentation
    • ClearPass and Aruba ecosystem
  • Background transitioning from Cisco to Aruba is relevant

Key Skill Priorities (in order)
  1. Aruba expertise
  2. Design experience (critical gap currently on team)
  3. Automation (team is moving toward network automation)
  4. Sprint/Scrum experience (helpful but can be learned)

Design Experience What They re Looking For
  • Candidates must demonstrate true ownership of design work, not just participation
  • Ability to:
    • Assess a problem and environment
    • Document requirements
    • Design a practical, scalable solution
    • Communicate solutions clearly in a customer-friendly manner
  • Strong indicators:
    • Has designed wireless environments end-to-end
    • Can explain what design decisions were made and why

Team & Work Environment
  • Operates within a Scrum framework with dedicated Scrum Masters
  • Sprint-focused delivery model
  • High-performance, high-stress environment with a strong emphasis on execution and delivery
  • Team culture:
    • Built on trust and collaboration
    • Collegial atmosphere where individuals can be themselves
  • Product-oriented organization that manages frequent change

Work Expectations
  • Core hours: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
  • Some work (e.g., changes/deployments) may occur after hours (10:00 PM or later) with potential flex time

Screening Insights & Candidate Evaluation
  • Resumes often appear strong on paper, but deeper technical screening is needed
  • Must validate hands-on design involvement, not just conceptual knowledge
  • Suggested evaluation approach:
    • Ask candidates to walk through a wireless design they personally implemented
    • Probe into specific design decisions and outcomes
  • Important: Candidates should demonstrate authentic knowledge discourage reliance on AI-generated responses during interviews

They are specifically seeking someone who is already actively designing solutions, not learning on the job.

Education/Certifications: Aruba certifications (ACMP, ACMX, or equivalent)

Interview Process: One Virtual interview with manager.

Hiring Manager Stack Ranking of Importance (Most Important to Least Important): 1. Skills 2. Rate 3. Location 4. Client Experience
