Job Summary:

The ASAP (Advancing Success in Associate Pathways) Advisor provides comprehensive, proactive, and student-centered academic advising, support services, and career counseling to a designated caseload of up to 150 students. This role is designed to promote retention, persistence, and timely degree completion through a structured, high-touch advising model.

ASAP advisors focus on promoting student success, delivering individualized academic planning, facilitating workshops, monitoring academic progress, and connecting students to campus resources early when challenges arise.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in counseling, education, social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years in higher education administration, with a focus on student success initiatives and program management.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff and managing programs.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and familiarity with student information and student success systems (e.g., Banner, Degree Works, Starfish, or similar platforms).
  • Experience with ASAP, guided pathways, or other structured student success initiatives a plus,
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to drive decision-making and improve student outcomes.
  • Demonstrated dedication to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within an educational setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide holistic academic, career, and personal advising to a caseload of ASAP students.
  • Develop individualized academic plans aligned with degree requirements and career goals.
  • Reviews student progress and tracks student use of academic support services.
  • Assist students in overcoming personal, financial, and academic obstacles by connecting them with appropriate campus and community resources. Proactively intervene when challenges arise.
  • Maintain regular contact with students through in-person, virtual, and group advising sessions.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops, events, and cohort-based programming on topics such as study skills, time management, career exploration, and financial literacy.
  • Collaborate with faculty, financial aid, tutoring, and student support services to ensure student success.
  • Offer personalized guidance on course selection, academic and transfer planning, to ensure students meet their educational goals.
  • Track and document all student interactions and outcomes in advising systems.
  • Participate in outreach efforts, including recruitment, onboarding, and orientation activities.
  • Contribute to program assessment, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Actively contribute to the college community by participating in campus-wide events and institutional activities, including commencement, college meetings, orientations, and student engagement initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Salary:
