Salary Range: $99,000 - $103,000
Location: Onsite (Los Angeles, CA)

Position: Asbestos Abatement Coordinator
Duties:
- 9.1
- Maintains open communication with central and regional existing departments in Facilities (Maintenance & Operations, Project Execution, and Central Design Management Group) to provide
- technical support related to asbestos and lead issues
- 9.2
- Prepares site assessment (Phase 1), abatement design (Phase 2) to address the impact of
- asbestos and lead-containing materials on construction projects
- 9.3
- Reviews environmental consultants’ Phase 1, 2, and 3 (project monitoring) reports for accuracy
- 9.4
- Surveys sites to recommend the best method to mitigate the abatement of asbestos and
- lead-containing building materials
- 9.5
- Prepares job estimates for project assessment, design and monitoring
- 9.6
- Prepares reports describing inspection findings or results and impact to projects determined
- by review of construction drawings
- 9.7
- Plans the repair, removal, disposal or encapsulation of asbestos-containing building
- materials, and abatement or in-place management of lead-based paint on structures and mechanical
- systems
- 9.8
- Conducts environmental project monitoring during construction to ensure compliance with
- applicable laws, project specifications, safety regulations and established work practices
- 9.9
- Investigates accidents or incidents that occur on or near the school grounds during the
- asbestos/lead related projects
- 9.10 Performs asbestos bulk sampling and lead wipe or paint chip sampling to investigate asbestos
- release or elevated lead exposure to children
- 9.11 Reviews condition assessment reports of asbestos-containing building materials (ACBM), address
- damaged/friable ACBM and manage the processing of asbestos bulk sampling data and abatement records
- 9.12 Update projects’ tracking sheets for progress status
- 9.13 Use Maximo to plan and track job progress and report actual labor charges

Minimum Requirements
Required Experience:- 10.1 Five (5) years full time paid professional construction experience on projects involving
- environmental (asbestos/lead) assessment, sampling, design, monitoring and abatement
- OR
- 10.2 2 years full time paid professional construction experience on projects involving
- environmental (asbestos/lead) assessment, sampling, design, monitoring, and abatement PLUS a
- Certification from the State of CA as Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST)
- OR
- 10.3 Certification from the State of CA as Certified Asbestos Consultant
Required Certificates:
- 10.3 Possession of Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA), asbestos course certificates (Building Inspector, Management Planner, Contractor/Supervisor and Project Designer)
- 10.4 Possession of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP)
- Certification
- 10.5 Possession of CA Department of Health (CDPH) Lead certification (Inspector/Assessor/Project
- Monitor)
Required Education:
- 10.6 Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in engineering or
- any related field
- OR
- 10.7 Candidates without a degree must have additional years of experience to compensate for
- education
- on a year-for-year basis
