ASC Patient Service Representative

Do you pride yourself on providing exceptional service and helping patients feel comfortable and cared for? Ophthalmology Surgery Center of Illinois is seeking a friendly, dependable, and detail-oriented Patient Services Representative to join our team.

As one of the first points of contact for our patients, you will help create a welcoming and organized experience from arrival through discharge. The ideal candidate communicates clearly, handles sensitive information professionally, and enjoys supporting patients and clinical teams in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

What You’ll Do

• Greet patients and visitors with warmth and professionalism
• Check patients in and out for scheduled surgical procedures
• Confirm patient demographic, contact, and insurance information
• Obtain required signatures, forms, identification, and insurance documentation
• Collect copays, deductibles, and other patient-responsibility amounts
• Process payments and provide accurate receipts
• Answer incoming calls and direct questions to the appropriate team member
• Communicate surgery-center procedures and general scheduling information
• Notify clinical staff of patient arrivals, delays, or concerns
• Maintain an organized reception and waiting area
• Prepare and review patient paperwork for accuracy and completeness
• Scan and upload documents into the patient-management system
• Assist patients and family members with questions while maintaining appropriate confidentiality
• Coordinate with clinical, scheduling, and business-office team members
• Protect patient privacy and comply with HIPAA requirements
• Perform additional administrative and patient-service duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous customer-service, reception, or administrative experience required
• Medical-office or ambulatory surgery center experience preferred
• Ophthalmology experience is a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• A compassionate and patient-focused approach
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and helpful in a busy environment
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and frequent interruptions
• Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn new systems
• Dependability, discretion, and a collaborative attitude
