Summary

Beagle Middle School is seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our team as an ASD Teacher. This full-time position is designed for an individual who is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of ASD, utilize evidence-based practices, and collaborate effectively with staff, families, and the community to promote the academic and social growth of students.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student with ASD.

  • Create a positive and structured classroom environment that encourages student engagement and learning.

  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.

  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students, families, and staff.

  • Collaborate with special education staff, general education teachers, and related service providers to ensure comprehensive support for students.

  • Facilitate social skills training and promote peer interaction to enhance social development.

  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and behavior, ensuring compliance with all educational regulations.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and ASD.

  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, fostering strong relationships to support student success.

  • Contribute to a positive school culture by participating in school events, committees, and professional learning communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education or equivalent credentials.

  • Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in an educational setting.

  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation, as well as knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and colleagues.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about current research and practices in special education.

  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with students with special needs.
