Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting a 9th-grade student in a behavioral class setting. As an ASL interpreter, your expertise will facilitate access to instruction during the school day, enriching the educational experience for a student utilizing cochlear implants, hearing aids, and an ALD device. With a consistent daily schedule averaging 6.5 hours, you'll work closely within the classroom for direct instructional periods. The role is designed for those seeking meaningful impact in an educational environment, starting August 12, 2026, and concluding May 27, 2027.

Key Qualifications:

  • Must possess at least one of the four nationally recognized Sign Language Interpreter certifications.
  • Proven experience interpreting for school-aged children, preferably in behavioral or special education settings.
  • Strong proficiency in American Sign Language and a commitment to supporting diverse communication needs.
  • Ability to collaborate with classroom educators and support teams to create inclusive learning opportunities.
  • Compassionate, flexible, and capable of adapting to evolving student needs and classroom dynamics.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver sign language interpretation during instructional periods, averaging 6.5 hours daily.
  • Adapt communication strategies to match the student's specific needs, including use of cochlear implants and assistive devices.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards in all interactions.
  • Foster positive rapport with the student to enhance comfort and engagement.
  • Work closely with educational staff to integrate interpreting into classroom activities.
