ASL Tutor

OVERVIEW

JOB TITLE: ASL TutorLOCATION: St. Paul CampusPAY RATE: 16.50

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of the ASL Tutor is to provide academic support to students under the supervision of a faculty supervisor. Tutors may also assist faculty with classroom-related support and instructional activities, as needed. In addition, tutors maintain a regular weekly schedule to provide tutoring assistance during designated walk-in hours.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

• Provide individualized tutoring support to students with varying levels of ASL proficiency
• Maintain a professional, respectful, and supportive learning environment
• Communicate clearly and patiently with students during tutoring sessions
• Assist students with homework assignments and exam preparation
• Participate in tutor orientation and training sessions
• Track and report the number of students, courses, and topics covered
• Available to work 4-6 hours per week

QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong ASL communication skills, including expressive and receptive signing.
• Ability to explain and teach ASL concepts clearly and patiently.
• Reliable, supportive, and professional, with strong interpersonal skills.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
