• Demonstrates strong understanding of temporary traffic control principles (flagging operations, lane closures, detours) • Ability to properly position and use signage, cones, barricades, and flagging devices • Maintains safe traffic flow through active construction zones with minimal disruption • Applies safety protocols consistently in high-risk, fast-paced environments
Situational Awareness & Decision-Making
• Continuously monitors traffic patterns, weather conditions, and jobsite hazards • Quickly identifies and responds to unsafe conditions or driver behavior • Makes sound, real-time decisions to prevent incidents or delays
Communication Skills
• Uses clear, concise hand signals and paddle movements to direct traffic • Communicates effectively with crew members, equipment operators, and supervisors • Maintains professional and calm interactions with the traveling public
Attention to Detail
• Ensures all traffic control setups meet project plans and safety standards • Stays alert for changes in jobsite conditions or traffic flow • Accurately follows instructions and adapts to evolving work zones
Reliability & Work Ethic
• Arrives on time and prepared for varying jobsite conditions • Demonstrates consistency in following safety rules and procedures • Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, nights, and weekends
Required Qualifications
• Valid Flagger Certification (or ability to obtain prior to starting) • Basic knowledge of roadway construction environments • Ability to stand for extended periods and work outdoors in all weather conditions • Reliable transportation to various job sites across Northern Kentucky
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand, walk, and remain alert for long durations • Lift and carry traffic control equipment (up to 50 lbs) • Work in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.)
