Asphalt Paver Operator

Established in 2018, Florida Asphalt & Concrete (FAC) was formed to meet the immense demand for commercial asphalt paving and concrete solutions across Central Florida. Currently serving Hillsborough, Pinellas, Hernando, Citrus, Pasco, Manatee, Polk, Hardee, Orange, Lee and Sarasota counties providing the infrastructure that makes modern life possible.

With state-of-the-art technology, FAC has the crews and equipment suitable for a variety of development projects ranging from public work (federal, county, city projects) to private single businesses, multi business office parks, and apartments to subdivision communities.

Guided by Senior Management, FAC has a team that is equipped to provide efficient budget and timeline solutions for contracts ranging upward of $20 million dollars in size. FAC is a member of the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida.

Responsibilities:

• Operate asphalt paving machine to lay asphalt at correct depth, width, grade, and slope per project plans and specifications
• Coordinate paver speed with material delivery to maintain consistent, uninterrupted paving operations
• Work closely with screed operator to ensure proper mat thickness, texture, and joint matching
• Monitor asphalt temperature and quality during placement, flagging issues to the foreman
• Perform daily equipment inspections, basic maintenance, and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues
• Read and interpret grade stakes, string lines, and project plans
• Communicate effectively with truck drivers, rollers, and laborers to maintain paving flow
• Follow all safety protocols, including MOT, PPE requirements, and equipment lockout/tagout procedures
• Maintain accurate daily production records

Requirements:

• Minimum 2–3 years of experience operating asphalt paving equipment on commercial or roadway projects
• Demonstrated knowledge of asphalt paving techniques, including joint construction, grade control, and mat consistency
• Experience with automated grade/slope control systems a plus
• Ability to read construction plans, grade stakes, and survey markings
• Strong mechanical aptitude for basic equipment troubleshooting
• CDL a plus but not required for this role
• Strong communication and teamwork skills within a fast-paced crew environment
• Ability to work outdoors in Florida heat, varying weather, and occasional night paving shifts
