Brown County Construction is seeking an experienced Asphalt Paving Foreman to lead a crew in the successful completion of paving projects such as city streets, county roads, parking lots, and small to mid-size municipal work. This hands-on role is responsible for planning daily work, managing field staff, ensuring quality and safety standards, and coordinating with project managers and subcontractors.
Asphalt Paving Foreman Responsibilities:
Crew Supervision & Leadership:
- Lead and supervise daily operations of the paving crew on municipal and commercial asphalt projects
- Conduct pre-pave safety and work briefings, enforcing safe work practices and company safety policies
- Communicate effectively with crew members and management to ensure project progress and resource needs are addressed
Project Planning & Coordination:
- Plan and coordinate daily work activities, materials, and equipment to meet project specifications and deadlines
- Collaborate with truck drivers, equipment operators, and laborers to maintain efficient material flow and workflow
Technical Expertise & Quality Control:
- Ensure proper depth, alignment, and compaction of asphalt using pavers, rollers, and graders
- Monitor quality control throughout the paving process to achieve smoothness, thickness, and finish that meet specifications
- Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and job specifications to guide paving operations
Administrative & Reporting Skills:
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in asphalt paving, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of asphalt paving equipment, methods, and techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, grades, and job specifications.
- Knowledge of OSHA and company safety standards.
- Effective leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required).
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and work extended hours during peak season.
