The Asphalt Plant Operator is responsible for the safe and skilled operation of multiple types of equipment in order to support daily Asphalt Plant operations. This position is located in Rensselaer NY.
General Duties
Operate articulated rubber-tired tractor-type vehicle equipped with front-mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage or processing areas to feed conveyors hoppers or chutes and to load trucks
Secondary plant operator operate asphalt plant to produce and load material
Maintain stockpiles of aggregate materials.
Maintenance of grounds plant equipment roadways all work areas
Maintenance of equipment such as fueling lubricating cleaning etc.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Mechanically inclined.
Willingness to work in extreme weather conditions
Flexibility to work long hours during the busy season including varied shifts and weekends when necessary.
Must agree to adhere to a Drug-Free Workplace
Properly follow all company policies and OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment
Team-oriented with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
Excellent communication skills with co-workers as well as customers
Excellent multitasking skills and able to prioritize projects in a busy environment
Able to operate with minimal supervision.
OSHA 10 Certification
Physical Requirements
Wears and maintains personal protective equipment PPE as required
Regularly required to lift and or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
Regularly required to use hands to finger handle or feel
Regularly required to communicate talk and hear
Frequently required to stand walk sit reach with hands and arms and stoop kneel crouch or crawl
Standing working on feet for long periods and walking across uneven terrain
Regularly required to work from a seated position operating equipment for long periods
Frequent exposure to loud noise
Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration
Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions dust and airborne particle
