The primary function is to perform minor assembly and surface preparation for parts before painting, as well as painting completed components and assemblies under general supervision.
Tools & equipment include spray guns, brushes, solvents, hand tools, hoists, and small motorized tools for tasks like making name plates, gaskets, and filter materials.
Supervision is provided by a foreman.
Work procedures involve interpreting instructions, spraying surfaces, cleaning and prepping products, applying masking tape, filling dents, mixing coatings, and painting inaccessible areas with brushes. Tasks also include cleaning equipment, removing rust or baked paint, assembling parts, preparing work records, maintaining a clean work area, and ensuring quality standards.
Prerequisites include at least 1 year of painting experience or relevant schooling/certification. Advancement to a senior position is automatic after 2 years in the role, with potential for earlier promotion at management discretion.
