Employment Type: W2 Contract | 6 Months with Possibility of Extension
Pay Rate: $20.66 - $22.66/hour | Paid Weekly
Work Model: Fully Onsite
Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM
Overtime: As needed based on business requirements

Role Overview

BEPC is seeking a skilled Medical Device Assembler to join our client's manufacturing team in San Diego, California. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 2+ years of hands-on assembly experience who enjoys building sophisticated mechanical, electrical, or electronic equipment.

In this role, you'll perform detailed assembly activities including wiring, component installation, cable harnessing, instrument assembly, testing, calibration, and inspection. You'll work with hand and power tools while following detailed SOPs, technical drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.

This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in precision work and wants to expand their experience within a regulated medical device or diagnostics manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble instruments and components according to established SOPs and work instructions.
  • Perform wiring, component installation, cable harnessing, fitting, and instrument assembly.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, manufacturing fixtures, limited automated equipment, and other production equipment.
  • Build assemblies requiring multiple components, processes, and a high degree of precision.
  • Become cross-trained across instrument assembly processes.
  • Perform product testing, calibration, and verification to ensure instrument accuracy, precision, and reliability.
  • Accurately document testing and calibration results.
  • Inspect components, assemblies, and finished products to ensure they meet established specifications and quality standards.
  • Identify and troubleshoot production issues or assembly discrepancies.
  • Work with engineering, quality, production, product development, and continuous improvement teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Provide feedback related to product design, manufacturability, and process improvements.
  • Accurately document production activities, assembly processes, product information, critical material controls, labeling activities, and quality non-conformances.
  • Focus on achieving first-time-right documentation and assembly quality.
  • Follow applicable Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and established safety requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve manufacturing quality and efficiency.
  • Train other assemblers when qualified and requested.
  • Perform additional manufacturing duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years of related assembly or manufacturing experience.
  • Strong hands-on technical skills involving mechanical, electrical, and/or electronic assembly.
  • Experience with assembly, testing, or calibration activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, work instructions, and assembly procedures.
  • Proficiency using hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, power drivers, and measuring equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hand-eye coordination.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to perform precise and accurate work.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
  • Working knowledge of standard computer programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
  • Ability to work the required 10:00 PM–6:30 AM shift.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous medical device or diagnostics manufacturing experience.
  • Experience assembling complex instruments or equipment.
  • Wiring and cable harness assembly experience.
  • Experience testing and calibrating mechanical, electrical, or electronic equipment.
  • Familiarity with FDA regulations and ISO standards.
  • Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with GMP and Quality Management Systems.
  • Previous troubleshooting or manufacturing process improvement experience.

Work Environment

This is a hands-on manufacturing position involving detailed assembly of sophisticated instruments and components. Employees will regularly use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, manufacturing fixtures, and other production equipment.

The role requires accuracy, mechanical aptitude, strong attention to detail, and the ability to follow established manufacturing and quality procedures. Employees may also collaborate with engineering and quality teams to troubleshoot issues and improve manufacturing processes.

Candidates must be comfortable working the required 10:00 PM–6:30 AM schedule and lifting 50 pounds or more as required by the position.
