This position is responsible for assembling, fabricating, and finishing solid surface components, including Corian and similar materials, for custom and production woodworking projects. This role ensures all solid surface products meet precise design specifications, quality standards, and finish expectations prior to shipment or installation, contributing to overall product excellence and customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assemble solid surface components according to work orders, drawings, and specifications.
Bond, seam, clamp, and fabricate solid surface materials using approved adhesives and techniques.
Measure, cut, and fit solid surface materials accurately.
Sand, polish, and finish surfaces to achieve seamless joints and high-quality appearance.
Inspect completed assemblies for quality, consistency, and workmanship.
Prepare completed products for shipment or installation, ensuring proper protection of finished surfaces.
Operate hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.
Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
Identify and communicate issues related to materials, equipment, or design specifications.
Collaborate with woodworking, finishing, and installation teams to meet project requirements.
Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including proper use of PPE.
Maintain a clean, organized, dust-controlled work area.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and skills development.
Assist in training team members on fabrication and assembly techniques.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience with Corian or solid surface fabrication preferred.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, measurements, and templates.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
Experience using fabrication tools such as routers, sanders, seam setters, and polishing equipment.
Ability to safely work with adhesives, solvents, and finishing compounds.
Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Physical Requirements
Extensive standing, bending, reaching, and repetitive motions.
Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to perform detailed finishing work for extended periods.
Personal Protective Equipment
Safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, gloves, and any other required PPE are mandatory while working with solid surface materials and fabrication equipment.
Work Environment
Continuous noise typical of a manufacturing environment.
Exposure to dust, adhesives, solvents, and fumes.
Solid surface and woodworking manufacturing environment.
May experience hot, humid, dusty, or otherwise disagreeable conditions.
Exposure to hazards where failure to exercise care could result in injury.
