Job Title: Mechanical Assembler – 1st Shift

Job Description

The Mechanical Assembler role focuses on building mechanical components, subassemblies, and finished products in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and established quality standards. You will use a variety of hand and power tools, along with measuring equipment, to ensure all products are assembled accurately, safely, and efficiently on a structured production line.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical components, subassemblies, and complete systems according to specifications, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Use a range of hand tools, including screwdrivers, wrenches, socket sets, pliers, hex keys, and torque wrenches, to perform precise mechanical assembly tasks.
  • Operate power tools such as electric screwdrivers, drills, impact drivers, grinders, and other assembly equipment to complete production work.
  • Verify proper fit, alignment, and functionality of assembled components and systems before final approval.
  • Inspect finished assemblies to ensure they meet all quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Identify and report defective materials, equipment issues, or assembly discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting to resolve minor assembly and fit issues.
  • Handle and assemble components such as PCBs, electrical and electro-mechanical parts, rivets, screws, and crimped connections as required.
  • Follow all safety procedures, manufacturing processes, and quality guidelines during assembly operations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including working within organized production cells.
  • Collaborate with team members and production staff to meet daily and weekly production schedules and output goals.
  • Use basic computer skills to access work instructions, record production information, or reference drawings and schematics as needed.
  • Support continuous improvement by suggesting process enhancements and participating in problem-solving activities.
  • Frequently lift, move, and position materials and assemblies weighing up to 50 pounds in a safe manner.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous mechanical assembly or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience using a variety of hand tools, including screwdrivers, wrenches, socket sets, pliers, hex keys, and torque wrenches.
  • Experience using power tools such as electric screwdrivers, drills, impact drivers, grinders, and other assembly equipment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand how mechanical components fit and function together.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, engineering drawings, and assembly instructions.
  • Basic understanding of schematics and component-level builds for mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Strong attention to detail with a consistent commitment to product quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to frequently lift and move materials and assemblies up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to follow established safety procedures and manufacturing processes.
  • Basic computer skills for accessing documentation and recording production data.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, or electro-mechanical assembly environments.
  • Familiarity with soldering techniques and working with PCBs in assembly operations.
  • Experience with crimping, riveting, and securing mechanical fasteners in production settings.
  • Comfort working with components and subassemblies used in precision mechanical and security-related systems.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a production team and communicate clearly with coworkers.
  • Reliability and strong work ethic, with the ability to support overtime needs when required.
  • Interest in learning and growing within a high-technology manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility organized into structured production cells. You will work on 1st shift from 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with some overtime likely depending on production needs. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and quality, with access to a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment to support mechanical and electro-mechanical builds. Dress code is typical for a production and manufacturing setting, focusing on practicality and safety while working on the assembly floor.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
