PGS Worldwide is seeking a Solder Assembler in Oldsmar, Florida for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This onsite 1st shift position supports advanced rework and assembly of circuit card assemblies in a high-reliability electronics manufacturing environment. The role requires strong soldering expertise, experience with complex SMT and through-hole components, and the ability to support both electronic rework and related mechanical assembly tasks.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in soldering and rework with a focus on advanced techniques
- Documented soldering experience
- Strong understanding of electronics assembly and repair principles
- Experience using soldering equipment including soldering irons, stations, reflow ovens, and soldering machines
- Experience performing advanced rework on circuit card assemblies
- Experience with BGA reballing and replacement
- Experience with QFN and other leadless package rework
- Experience with high-density connector rework and repair
- Experience replacing complex SMT components
- Experience with through-hole and SMT components
- Experience using microscopes for part placement and orientation verification
- Experience with inspection and testing equipment such as microscopes and X-ray machines
- IPC-A-610 and J-STD experience
- Strong computer skills
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and write English
- Ability to pass a required medical exam
Preferred Skills
- IPC certification in soldering and rework, such as IPC-A-610 or IPC-7711/7721
- Experience with AOI and AXI systems
What You’ll Do
- Perform advanced rework on circuit card assemblies
- Complete BGA reballing and replacement, QFN rework, high-density connector repair, and complex SMT component replacement
- Perform through-hole and SMT soldering operations
- Use hand soldering and reflow soldering techniques to complete assembly and rework
- Inspect and troubleshoot assemblies to identify defects and improvement opportunities
- Develop and implement rework procedures for new and existing products
- Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve design and manufacturing issues
- Perform mechanical assembly operations including installing stand-offs, spacers, and related hardware
- Assemble and align complex mechanical components
- Use adhesives, epoxies, and other bonding agents as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace in accordance with safety and quality requirements
