JOB DESCRIPTION:

Assembler / Tester A

POSITION SUMMARY

The Assembler / Tester is responsible for the assembly, testing, calibration support, and verification of mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic components in an FAA-regulated repair station environment. This role supports electronics boxes, indicators and flow-measurement products, ensuring compliance with engineering requirements, quality standards, and customer specifications.

The position performs hands-on assembly, test setup, functional verification, and light machining activities with limited supervision. The role supports operational throughput, test capacity, and schedule performance for military and commercial repair programs. This position may also support specialized activities such as illuminated component testing in controlled lighting environments and finishing processes associated with avionics components.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assemble mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic components in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and approved procedures.
  • Perform assembly work on electronics box, indicators, sensors, and associated hardware.
  • Execute torque application, lock-wiring, sealing, fastening, and final detailing operations.
  • Support functional, pressure, flow, and electrical testing using calibrated test equipment and fixtures.
  • Perform lighting verification of illuminated components (e.g., avionics dials) in controlled or low-light environments to ensure compliance with engineering and customer specifications.
  • Assist with test stand setup, configuration changes, and verification activities in accordance with approved test procedures and engineering requirements.
  • Record test data accurately, identify discrepancies, and initiate escalation or corrective actions in accordance with quality procedures.
  • Support assembly and handling of flex circuit or Scene Flex-type assemblies, ensuring proper routing, handling, and protection of sensitive components.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, assembly routes, test procedures, service instructions, and quality documentation (including ATPs, CMMs, and service bulletins as applicable).
  • Perform work in accordance with approved configuration and process requirements, including verification of part configuration, modification status, and labeling prior to release.
  • Perform surface preparation, paint touch-up, labeling, marking, and cosmetic finishing per specifications and quality standards.
  • Handle and apply approved industrial chemicals, coatings, adhesives, and solvents in compliance with safety, environmental, and process requirements.
  • Ensure proper curing, cleanliness, and cosmetic acceptance of components per applicable documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation in shop systems (e.g., RCARD/work travelers), ensuring full traceability and compliance with regulatory, quality, and customer requirements.
  • Recognize and communicate job status changes (e.g., holds, shortages, test issues) to appropriate functions.
  • Identify and escalate issues related to test equipment, tooling, or documentation that may impact quality or throughput.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and FOD-free work environment.
  • Follow ESD controls, safe product-handling practices, and environmental health and safety requirements.
  • Ensure proper use and care of tools, fixtures, and calibrated equipment.
  • Coordinate with test, engineering, quality, and planning teams to support efficient workflow and on-time delivery performance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications
  • One to two years of experience in assembly, testing, manufacturing, or repair environments preferred.
  • Experience with mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to use hand tools, precision measuring devices, and basic test equipment.
  • Ability to follow troubleshooting steps, identify issues, and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision while maintaining quality, safety, and productivity standards.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team-based environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation and data entry.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with fuel systems, flow measurement, or gauging components.
  • Experience with illuminated component testing or working in controlled/dark environments.
  • Familiarity with flex circuits or scene Flex assemblies.
  • Experience with paint, coatings, labeling, and cosmetic finishing processes.
  • Exposure to handling industrial chemicals, adhesives, or solvents in a manufacturing or repair environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical data packages, CMMs, and service documentation.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment (FAA Part 145 preferred).
ACCOUNTABILITY & COMPLIANCE
  • Work performed is subject to FAA regulations, quality management systems, and customer requirements.
  • The Assembler / Tester is responsible for ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance of all work performed and documented.
  • Errors or omissions in assembly, testing, or documentation may impact product airworthiness, safety, and regulatory compliance.
PHYSICAL / WORKING REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work at benches or test stations for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and components up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to perform fine motor tasks such as assembly, wiring, fastening, and inspection.
  • Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and work in confined or equipment-dense areas.
  • Visual acuity is sufficient for reading drawings, inspecting components, interpreting test results, and verifying cosmetic/lighting requirements.
  • Ability to work in low-light or darkened environments for testing purposes.
  • Ability to safely handle chemicals, coatings, and solvents using required PPE.
Pay, Benefits, Work Schedule

Competitive Compensation
  • Pay Range: \$22.35/hr to \$34.6/hr
