Assembly Lead

Job Description
We are currently hiring an experienced Assembly Lead to join a manufacturing team producing high-quality architectural lighting products. The Assembly Lead will oversee a small work cell of up to four employees, ensuring production goals, quality standards, safety requirements, and established procedures are consistently met.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who has previous manufacturing or assembly experience and is comfortable training and supporting others while also performing assembly work. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, team player, and problem solver who can stay organized and productive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support a work cell of up to four employees
  • Assemble products according to production schedules, work instructions, and quality standards
  • Train employees on proper assembly methods, safety procedures, and workplace standards
  • Monitor production goals and help ensure daily targets are met
  • Conduct daily team meetings and communicate priorities and performance expectations
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and constructive feedback to team members
  • Hold employees accountable for performance, attendance, quality, and safety expectations
  • Read and follow assembly drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Verify assembly methods and work sequences to ensure proper production processes are followed
  • Identify problems and work with team members and supervisors to develop solutions
  • Help improve production processes using Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area
  • Participate in 5S audits, red-tag activities, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Monitor product quality and ensure established standards are followed
  • Help track department performance and key production metrics
  • Work closely with other departments and cross-functional teams
  • Ensure tools and equipment are functioning properly and perform basic user-level maintenance when needed
  • Assist supervisors and management with additional duties and projects as assigned
Requirements
  • 2+ years of manufacturing or assembly experience
  • Previous leadership, lead, trainer, or supervisory experience preferred
  • Ability to read and understand assembly drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to train, coach, and provide constructive feedback to coworkers
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and production demands
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. throughout the workday
  • Frequently handle heavier components and materials
  • Ability to kneel, crouch, bend, reach, and perform repetitive physical movements
  • Ability to remain active and on your feet for extended periods
