We are currently seeking an Assembly Technician to assemble precision optical components and opto-mechanical assemblies incorporating electronics and mechanical components for laser systems at both the component and subsystem levels.
Main Responsibilities
• Perform optical assembly, alignment techniques, adhesive dispensing, and curing, shimming techniques, experience with lasers, electro-static discharge training, and use of torque limiting tools (a plus). • Assemble basic opto-mechanical subassemblies following written procedures and completing all relevant paperwork. • Perform different bonding techniques using robotic dispensing equipment, paying attention to the clearance requirements of moving parts to adjust speed timing or output thereby ensuring continuity, quality, and safety. • Assist Engineering and suggest changes that may be needed. • Perform Optical Metrology measurements, surface figure, transmitted wavefront error extinction ratio, dimensional, and angle, and others using both hand and computer-operated tools. • Ensure compliance with established specifications. • Understanding of material handling practices in a cleanroom environment. • Follow proper cleanroom practices and protocols. • Keep assembly department and surrounding areas clean and free of contaminants. • Employees are expected to serve as role models for safe work practices and behaviors. This includes following established health and safety policies and procedures, maintaining a clean organized work area, wearing and properly storing all personal protective equipment (PPE), and actively engaging as a safety-conscious worker with personal safety and wellness as a priority. • Checks work before signing off on completion. • Turns off equipment and places tools, components, and paperwork in designated storage locations before leaving the area. • Use of computers as well as records information on the process sheets correctly. • Schedule minded, willing to occasionally work overtime or off-shifts to support the shipment schedule. • Recommends procedural improvements to management.
Qualifications
3-5 years of experience in manufacturing in an assembly department preferred. High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required. Manual Dexterity, fine motor control, good hand-eye coordination, feel for handling sensitive optics and preserving finished surfaces. Able to follow detailed instructions without variance. Understanding of and familiarity with basic computer usage under the Windows operating system, including the Office suite of programs.
