Overview
Administrative Assistant - Acute Care Surgery
Location: Methodist Hospital
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Department: Acute Care Surgery
Role Overview
This role plays a key part in reducing administrative burden so physicians and clinical leaders can focus on patient care. The Administrative Assistant provides essential support to the Acute Care Surgery team and collaborates closely with the trauma program team, facilities, and administrative partners across service lines. The team values collaboration and maintains a positive, family‑like work environment.
Key Benchmarks for Success
- 0-3 months: Complete onboarding and become familiar with workflows and systems
- 3-6 months: Build confidence in responsibilities and operate with increasing independence
- 12 months: Fully independent and actively identifying efficiencies and process improvements
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to physicians and leaders within Acute Care Surgery
- Manage calendars and schedules, ensuring efficient coordination and prioritization
- Coordinate meetings, including logistics and materials
- Process invoices and expense requests
- Respond to inquiries and support day‑to‑day administrative needs
- Handle routine administrative and technical issues with basic guidance
Tools for Success
- Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and use available resources effectively
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 0-3+ years of relevant experience; previous administrative experience preferred
- Experience working within a matrixed or complex environment is a plus
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
