The Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds (HKC) is seeking an experienced lifeguard and swim instructor to join our aquatics team as an Assistant Aquatics Director at HKC Rockland County.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Assistant Aquatics Director, under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, is responsible for ensuring our lifeguard operations, swim instruction, and boating run smoothly. Working with a staff of 100 swim instructor/lifeguards spread across three pool complexes (seven pools in total), the Assistant Aquatics Director is responsible for ensuring a structored, supporting and enriching environment exists for the aquatics staff as they lifeguard and teach swim effectively for 1500 campers daily.

  • SALARY: $8000
  • HOURS: Mon - Fri 8:00am - 4:15pm

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The AAD works in collaboration with the Aquatics Director insuring the safety of the pool deck at all times, with proper supervision and adhering to DOH regulations. This person has primary oversight for the physical facilities and equipment at the pool complexes and ensuring that lifeguarding is happening at a hgh-level.

The other primary focus is on the staff experience. This position coordinates the employee recognition and incetive program, ensures feedback is being given positively and constructively, and ensures team building and staff engagement activites are planned and executed.

Additionally, this individual is responsible for the boating program and non-swim instruction related paperwork.

As a supervisor, this person is expected to help foster a rewarding environment for the aquatics staff that inspires team morale, and encourages staff to produce quality work in their commitment to HKC's mission of enhancing the camp experience for the day camps who call HKC home.

 

EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS

This individual must have current lifeguarding and CPR/AED certification, have had WSI certification and must have at least 3-years experience working as a lifeguard at a large facility and at least 1-year of experience supervising a large staff.

The individual will need to obtain a Lifeguard Management certification, have experience working with children of all ages, and experience teaching swim. The ideal candidate will have experience with the American Red Cross swim program.
