The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at LSU Health Shreveport invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level. While the search is open at all ranks, we are especially interested in recruiting an exceptional early-career investigator poised to build a sustained and nationally visible research program. Candidates whose work bridges virology, immunology, and cancer biology are particularly encouraged to apply, including those studying virus-driven malignancy, antiviral and antitumor immune responses, virus-host interactions in the tumor microenvironment, or therapeutic development involving oncolytic or cancer-relevant viruses. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a nationally competitive, extramurally funded research program, participate in graduate and medical education, and contribute to the mentoring of Ph.D. students and postdoctoral fellows. LSU Health Shreveport offers a highly collaborative environment for investigators working at the intersection of virology, immunology, and cancer biology. The Department of Microbiology and Immunology has a long and successful track record in tumor virology and virus-host interaction research and identifies molecular and tumor virology among its core research strengths. Departmental faculty maintain NIH-funded programs in viruses, bacteria, and the immune system, and the department continues to expand its research and training enterprise. Candidates will also benefit from the broader cancer research environment at LSU Health Shreveport, including the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center (FWCC), a Center of Excellence that integrates cancer research, clinical care, and medical education. FWCC-supported institutional resources provide additional intramural funding for advancing cancer-related research programs. Additional collaborative opportunities are available through the Center for Applied Immunology and Pathological Processes (CAIPP), an NIH-funded COBRE center at LSU Health Shreveport. CAIPP provides access to an Immunophenotyping Core and a Bioinformatics and Modeling Core, supporting advanced flow cytometry, immunologic phenotyping, cell analysis, and omics/data science workflows. LSU Health Shreveport investigators also have access to extensive institutional research infrastructure and core facilities, including campus research cores and specialized shared resources that support modern biomedical research.
