Position Overview This role is ideal for an aspiring athletic trainer looking for hands-on experience in a Division I athletic environment. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide athletic training services under the guidance of a team physician and report to the Director of Sports Medicine. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a dynamic and supportive sports medicine team. What Youll Do · Coordinate injury prevention evaluation treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses. · Maintain accurate timely medical records for athletes. · Coordinate referrals to physicians and specialists as needed. · Serve as a liaison between coaches athletes physicians and parents. · Provide preceptor duties for UNMs athletic training education program. · Oversee daily operations and maintenance of sports medicine facilities. · Provide coverage for daily practices home games and travel with the assigned team. · Complete administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine. · Ensure continuing education in compliance with the Board of Certification and New Mexico Board of Athletic Trainers. · Adhere to NCAA and Mountain West Conference rules and regulations. · Develop and distribute visiting team information. · Perform other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule · Non-standard hours including evenings weekends holidays and overnight travel with the team.
